Meet with Stand Up Stand Out to discuss the barriers to citizenship and what solutions we can offer, to ensure that the 800,000 young people who are unable to access their right to citizenship are better able to do so.

Citizenship may not be for everyone and it does not make you any less of a citizen if you do not hold a British passport. However, for the 800,000 young people who were born in London to diaspora parents and who would like to access their right but are unable to do so, this is a grave problem in our society.

Stand Up Stand Out have been listening to our Citizens UK membership, asking migrant youth, teachers, faith leaders and more about access to Citizenship. We have identified a clear lack of knowledge regarding citizenship and making our institutions unable to act in the best way to serve their members.

We have identified four barriers to Citizenship – costs (£936 for children), lack of awareness/confusion by parents and teachers, forms are difficult to read/understand and lack of legal advice.

Meet with us to discuss how we can offer solutions to ensure our youth are able to access their rights to Citizenship. We will be discussing how to breathe life into citizenship ceremonies, to ensure ceremonies become more powerful, such as by having all those going through Citizenship ceremonies sign up to the electoral register. We will discuss different ways we could raise awareness in schools and how to make the process easier and cheaper. Who do we need on our side to get there? We need many great minds to help us tackle this issue, so if you think you have something to offer, we would love to meet you.
